| Civil partnerships between same-sex couples have been available since the change in the law in December 2005. They share many features with conventional marriages and give similar rights, in respect of housing and pensions for example. A civil partner also acquires parental rights over the other partner’s child.
Ending a civil partnership follows the same path as a divorcing married couple and we can advise you on the grounds of a dissolution (as it is known) or help you agree the terms of a formal separation. The division of property and assets and issues involving children are treated in the same way as divorce.
Contact us if you have any questions concerning a possible civil partnership dissolution and its consequences.
